My home is on Flying Dust First Nation with my wife, Shauna and our 4 children; Shavon, Shanelle, Jerome and James. My grandparents are Clara (nee Merasty) and Bob Norman and Edward and Cecil King. I have been involved with the Flying Dust administration for over 17 years in a few positions; TLE Coordinator, Recreation Director and as a member of Council for 3 terms. More recently I have had the opportunity to do a joint venture with my father James and cousin DJ King and we opened up a resort business in 2015.
I am honoured to serve my community for the next 4 years. I believe with my experience and values of faith, family and respect I am ready to lead our community. I am grateful to the membership for the opportunity to continue working for you.

Councillor Connie Derocher
I am honoured and thankful to be serving my first term on council for Flying Dust First Nation. I have lived here most of my life and I am proud to call this community home. It’s been a great place to raise my sons, Josh and Kalen, and my niece, Seaquin.
I graduated from Beauval Indian Education Center and went on to attend classes at the U of S. I have been a front line worker with our members for the past 16 years in the Justice, Recreation, Kopahawakenum School and Post-Secondary programs. I have also sat on several boards and committees over the years. My passion has always been working with our young people to help them improve their livelihood and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue doing this work. I currently hold the Education and Youth & Recreation portfolios and I’m excited to work with staff and community members to develop those areas.
I look forward to the future and being a part of a team that has the knowledge, experience, creativity and heart to build up our people and strengthen our community.
